Value Options provides this service for DCBHS

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) Division of Child Behavioral Health Services (DCBHS) serves children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral health care challenges and their families. DCBHS is committed to providing these services based on the needs of the child and family in a family driven, community-based environment.

Most fundamental to the Division of Child Behavioral Health Services is its emphasis on the family or caregiver as playing a central role in the health and well being of children. DCBHS involves families throughout the planning and any service delivery process in order to create a system that values and promotes the advice and recommendations of the family, a system that is friendly to families and one which provides them the tools and support needed to create successful life experiences for their children with emotional and behavioral problems.

New Jersey parents can contact the DCBHS System of Care if their children are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. The parent/guardian must make the call to ask for assistance. Helping professionals may assist the parent/guardian in making the call. Teachers, Social Workers, Clinicians, Medical Personnel, Pastors, and others involved with the child or family can suggest that the parent contact DCBHS. If the parent/ guardian agrees with the suggestion, the parent/guardian can make the call. If the parent/guardian wants assistance with this process, the professional/supportive person can call with the parent. The helping person can also assist the parent/guardian through a conference call. The parent/guardian must be willing to speak to the Care Coordinator and agree to the DCBHS assessment process.

The Family Support Organization of Monmouth County (Family Based Services Association of NJ) can help a parent/guardian refer their child to DCBHS. They are located at:
