Family Lift matches donors of used cars with MonmouthCares families that are struggling to meet significant challenges in their lives—families in dire need of transportation to keep the family stable or reach a higher level of self-sufficiency.

Your Old Car Can Help a Family:

  • Keep a job, work longer hours and accept shift work
  • Find a better job outside of public transportation routes
  • Get needed job training or higher education
  • Take children to medical appointments, counseling, etc.
  • Spend more quality time with their children
  • Become self-sufficient and self-supporting

Ask Yourself:

  • If I'm offered a low trade-in value or can only get a small amount of money for the car, would a tax deduction of fair market value benefit me more?
  • What can I do to help my needy Monmouth County neighbors without giving money or time?
  • Do I really want to take the time and trouble of trying to sell the car myself?

What Do I Have to Do?

  1. Call the Family Lift Coordinator at (732) 222-8008 and let us know you have a usable vehicle with less than 150,000 miles that has passed inspection and that you would like to donate.
  2. Tell us about any problems you have had with the car, or any work that needs to be done.
  3. We will send you to one of our “compassionate mechanics” who will evaluate the car and advise us whether to accept it.
  4. If we can accept the car, remove the plates and give us the title.
  5. In order to complete the tax donation forms, we will need the social security number of the donor.
  6. Receive your donation acknowledgement letter from MonmouthCares, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
